"I know saying things like Lisa is our angel sounds cheesy, but when you experience something as natural yet majestic as childbirth, cliches start to make sense. So there I say it, Lisa is an angel."
"Hiring Lisa to help at the birth of my daughter, Olive, was one of the best (and most important) decisions I've made in my life. I knew I wanted to be supported by a loving, nurturing, thoughtful and present doula, and Lisa was that and so much more. My labor and birth didn't quite match my birth plan (ha! does it ever?) Yet from Lisa's skillfully rubbing my back when I was in throes of labor (she's an amazing masseuse), to singing Bob Marley songs to soothe me and my unborn baby (at my request), to gently (yet expertly) explaining what was happening step by step in the labor process, Lisa helped me have the most beautiful birth that my daughter, husband and I were so supposed to have: graceful, loving, I dare say fun, and totally drama-free. I know saying things like Lisa is our angel sounds cheesy, but when you experience something as natural yet majestic as childbirth, cliches start to make sense. So there I say it: Lisa is an angel."

"Her touch is magical -- this alone sets her apart from many other doulas, and is essential during the birth process. She is someone my family will treasure all my life."
"Lisa Jacobson was the most supportive and caring doula I could have hoped to have for the birth of my daughter Olympia Sophia at the end of 2011. She made efforts to be in town during the last weeks of my pregnancy, which happened over the holidays - way beyond what she needed to do - and was there right away when my husband called her and said, 'we're not sure if this is happening yet,' and she said, 'yeah, what you're saying makes me think it IS happening!' She is an expert yogi and masseuse and created an atmosphere for me that was as free from pain as it could be. Her touch is magical -- this alone sets her apart from many other doulas, and is essential during the birth process. She is someone my family will treasure all my life."

"Lisa was a wonderful guide through the whole birth process, supportive, caring, healing and helpful in every way."
"Lisa was a wonderful doula. I was in the hospital and had just started to have agonizing cramps, and was thinking "I can't take this," when Lisa magically arrived and immediately laid her hands on me. In that one instant, the pain diminished and I was able to relax and focus on the task at hand. Lisa was a wonderful guide through the whole birth process, supportive, caring, healing and helpful in every way. She helped us navigate the hospital staff and make me more comfortable in so many ways throughout the very long delivery. Her calm presence and healing touch meant so much to me and helped make the birth even more special."

"I can't imagine ever giving birth again without her there. A blessing for women, babies, midwives, and fathers."
"I can't even think of the perfect words to describe Lisa, both as a doula and as a person. My birthing experience would have been much different without her there. Her presence was so calming and loving. Her touch was full of calming energy and protection. In the throws of labor, she brought relief with massage, acupressure, and breathing techniques. She kept me focused and as comfortable as I could be. I can't imagine ever giving birth again without her there. Such a beautiful person with an amazing gift. A blessing for women, babies, midwives, and fathers.
Also, my (very well known and very respected) midwife Cara Muhlhahn raved about her abilities as a doula and her positive bedside manner as well. As for my husband, he says that although he wasn't sure how a doula would fit into our birth experience, he now realizes that Lisa played an integral role in supporting me during the birth of our son. As a first time father, he was both a bit scared and sometimes lost during the endless hours of labor. He trusted Lisa and felt extremely comforted seeing her ease my many pains. We are so grateful for Lisa."

"Lisa is a huge part of the beauty of our birth experience, and was with me for every breath."
"Lisa's grounded presence, leadership and open-minded approach to caregiving met our needs 100% as we went through pregnancy and labor/delivery. We had a home birth and hand chose the particular people we wanted there for our suppprt team. Lisa took care of me, my husband and my home equally, we felt held by her. She worked with our midwife with grace, diligence and accuracy. Lisa is a huge part of the beauty of our birth experience, and was with me for every breath.... Not to mention her added expertise in pre and post natal massage, yoga, and nutrition! I highly recommend her!"

"Lisa brings balance and clarity to her doula practice; she listens with her heart and was able to empower me to make the right decisions about my birth. "
"Lisa Jacobson has been my massage therapist for over five years, and when I got pregnant i knew immediately that I wanted to hire Lisa as my doula. Lisa has been with me through two pregnancies, and provided prenatal massages and delicious postpartum meals through both. Lisa brings balance and clarity to her doula practice; she listens with her heart and was able to empower me to make the right decisions about my birth. Lisa exudes warmth and assurance; these qualities easily transfer to her practice as a doula. She has the incredible ability to stay centered through the birth experience.
I never felt like I was alone or without support throughout the time Lisa was with us, through prenatal and postpartum visits as well as in the hospital. I was able to have the confidence and stamina I needed throughout my labor because of her unwavering support and advocacy. She was focused and engaged in supporting both me and my husband. I was able to manage my pain by focusing on her touch through each contraction and I was surprised at how comforting and helpful the pressure point massage was. Lisa gave me the ability to easily ride through the most painful parts of my labor. Lisa is extremely intuitive and gave my husband and I the space to be together throughout my labor without the feeling that there was anyone else in the room."

"She went above and beyond to help ease me into the role of mom and I will be eternally grateful. Lisa is a gift I wish I could give to every mom to be."
"Knowing that Lisa was going to be there with me during labor and delivery eased my fears. She really listened to my needs but also seemed to magically know exactly what I needed without my having to say a word. I knew I was going to need Lisa's amazing touch and intuition during the birthing process, what I did not know was just how much I was going to need her in the days after! She went above and beyond to help ease me into the role of mom and I will be eternally grateful. Lisa is a gift I wish I could give to every mom to be."
"Lisa is an amazing, positive woman with an incredibly uplifting spirit. She is more than a doula to our family, she is a friend!"
"My family and I have used Lisa as our doula for our 2 youngest children, now aged 4 and 8 months. She was such a gift to us... from her amazing massage skills, her coolness under pressure, and her ability to "read" me and know just what I needed before I did. With her help, during my most recent labor I was able to remain at home for a longer period of time. My husband felt a huge relief in knowing that Lisa was more than capable of taking care of my laboring needs which made him a calmer person, and therefore me a much happier mama. But beyond all of that, Lisa is an amazing, positive woman with an incredibly uplifting spirit. She is more than a doula to our family, she is a friend!"

"Lisa was amazing! She's like mom, sister, friend, and guru all rolled into one lovely laughing package."
"I had the pleasure of having Lisa as my post-partum doula for the few weeks following my daughter's birth. My labor was nearly two days and resulted in an emergency C-section, so I was in a lot of pain for a lot of time after the birth, not to mention just flooded with all the other myriad emotions that happen right after birth. Lisa was amazing! Her very presence radiates light, joy and maternal comfort. She's like mom, sister, friend, and guru all rolled into one lovely laughing package.
She was instantly comfortable with our newborn daughter. The loving and confident way she held her, changed her, rocked her-- not only set my nervous new mommy mind at ease but also gave me the confidence I needed to do my job without hesitation or doubt. It was really comforting to have Lisa around. And her meals were delicious!! She prepared super healthy and yummy food and would just bring a plate to me while I was breast feeding or make sure my husband sat down to eat some food. Additionally, she would make extra and leave meals in the fridge or freezer so we would have food when she wasn't there. She came with whatever ingredients she needed and also picked up other good groceries we needed. It was so nice not to have to think about any of that right after having a baby!
Having Lisa with us was amazing and a wonderful decision. It just made our lives so much easier, and brought a really calm feeling into our house. And of course, it doesn't hurt that when I wanted to purchase a massage session she was able to do it right there on my bed! I'll be using her again when I have my baby in May."
"Lisa as your doula will be your protector, your best friend, sister, and mother all rolled into one fierce, gentle, compassionate, loving angel."
"Lisa as your doula will be your protector, your best friend, sister, and mother all rolled into one fierce, gentle, compassionate, loving angel--with the most amazing hands, by the way. (It's unlikely that your best friend, sister, or mother can give you a massage like Lisa can.)
I had a hospital birth that could so easily have gone a million other ways, any of which would have left me feeling robbed. I was at risk of preeclampsia (Lisa comforted and coached me through the stress of all that during my pregnancy), and so was medically induced with pitocin, which is famous for making the contractions stronger, closer together, and more intense. I was in labor for 36 hours at the hospital. And I gave birth, as I wanted, without an epidural; it was a fun, spiritual, beautiful experience that bonded me and my baby and boyfriend, gave me a new kind of confidence in my womanhood, and gave me and my boyfriend the foundation for parenting together.
Before my due date, Lisa coached me and my boyfriend on labor positions, what to bring to the hospital, and what to expect. Her loving massages during my pregnancy made it much easier to carry those extra 40 pounds. During labor, Lisa kept me hydrated and well fed; danced and talked and hung out with me and my boyfriend, making the hospital feel like home (most of you will get to enjoy early labor at home); reassured me about the normalcy of my bleeding (yes, I felt completely comfortable in the bathroom with Lisa showing her everything); massaged me; managed visitors so I wouldn't get distracted and stall labor, interpreted and taught me how to interpret the monitoring of my contractions and baby's heart rate so that I felt like I knew what was going on; kept the delivery room clean and organized so that I could stay calm and focused; kept my boyfriend calm and focused and taught him how to support me; reassured my mom and kept her calm and confident that I was in good hands; befriended and negotiated with the nurses doctors and empowered me to negotiate important decisions with the doctors (e.g., when to break my water, which didn't break on its own); coached and taught me how to push effectively, and even more which I am sure I cannot remember from the rich and bewildering journey of labor and delivery.
I could write more, because a true testimonial would require narrating my entire pregnancy and birth story, but will just say: hire her as your doula! It is the best decision you can make for yourself, your baby, and your entire family."
